I received my Starbucks Gold Card in the mail today. I was excited...why? I'm not sure. The Gold Card gives me
- 10% off of every purchase
- A complimentary birthday beverage
- Exclusive offers and discounts
- Free Wi-Fi access for 2 hours each day
- Access to a members-only web site
I don't go to Starbucks often enough to make up the $25 annual fee for the Gold Card...BUT...I received one year free because I have the Starbucks Visa card that gives me back 1% in Starbucks cash. I only drink black coffee from Starbucks. When I spend $1.61 on coffee I get a return of $.016. After I purchase 100 cups of coffee I will have enough on my Visa to pay for one cup of coffee. Now that I have the Gold Card I get 10% off of every transaction - which makes my total for a cup of coffee about $1.45. My dilemma is this - now that I get 10% off of every transaction with my Gold Card I actually get less money back on my Visa. What will I do??!! These are the struggles I face.

Very typical of you Vince. Yes you have all of the hard facts but you overlooked the soft points. Bottom line, the gold card is cool. There is no choice, go with the gold.
Yeah. SBux sux.
Vince,
You are looking at this like a woman shopper--believing that the more you buy the more you save. The way to really save is to quit drinking Starbucks coffee.
You've made me question my accounting degree
"You are looking at this like a woman"
whoa ... is that allowed?
:-)
No Rick. This is not allowed. This is being added to the list of things that will be discussed during the intervention.
