Pigs Flew

Congrats to my friend Bryan who recently convinced his wife that every real family either has a dog or wants a dog.

Pot Calling Kettle will begin a "name the dog" contest today. Any suggestions should be left in the comments section of this post. The winner will be announced early next week. After the winner is announced Bryan and Leslie will be notified about the name of their dog.

We're picking a name by tomorrow at 3:30, when we will be going to get him, so I'll be checking back here often for suggestions. Names toward the top of the list right now are Blitz, Calvin, Dignan, Zissou, Gus(tavus), and Randy.

Props to Vince's incredible prophetic powers in posting a picture of a yellow lab under his "Pigs Are Flying" post a few days ago. Labs weren't even in the running at that point.

Yeah, PoMonkey and I already decided that we will be calling the dog GOB irregardless of what "official" name he's given.

GOB, you've just made a huge mistake on the carpet!

I don't know whether to be honored or insulted that you would name your dog "Randy".

Wince, good question.

The proper pronunciation is like the biblical book/figure, Job. The most common mispronunciation, though, is gob (as in gobstopper.

You've really got to watch Arrested Deveopment. Come On!

Wife of GOB: I'm in love with your brother-in-law.

GOB: You're in love with your own brother? The one in the army?

Wife of GOB: No. Your sister's husband.

GOB: Michael? Michael!

Wife of GOB: No. That your sister's brother.

GOB: No, I'm my sister's brother. You're in love with me? Me.

Wife of GOB: I'm in love with Tobias.

GOB: My brother-in-law?

Wife of GOB: I know it can never be, so I'm leaving. I'm enlisting in the army.

GOB: To be with your brother?

Wife of GOB: No!

Well, I don't know who "anonymous" is, but the only name I'm vetoing so far is "Jacob Arminius." Unless he was a really stupid dog who had a hard time doing good exegesis. Then maybe I'd consider it.

Did I just get any Arminians riled up? Fun.

I love that Vince's parents read his blog. How cute. My parents hate me, I think. They never read my blog. But really only Vince does read it. Vince loves me.

Hey...PoMonkey should get some props here. I read B's blog!
I helped the new parents shop today for Gob's necessities...I discovered there are a lot of monkey dog toys. That is, dog toys that are monkeys. I mean, monkey toys for dogs. Anyway, Gob is really going to like his new stuff and I'm going to like being Gob's aunt.

I know I'm a little late throwing this name into the suggestion pot, but I really think it's going to be a "winner"...kind of like my caption for Pomonkey's contest. I think the name Piper is a very good name for such a cute little puppy. Or you could call him J.P. Living up to his name would make training him almost effortless!

although the dog should be named Vince because I was the one who did the conVincing...the winner of the name the dog contest is...

Bosco Bryan McWhite.

You know you have to give it a full name don't you?

Thanks for all of the good suggestions folks. I liked Vince's mom's the best, actually: "Piper." But Leslie vetoed it. Sinner.

See for the official name.
