Boycott St. Valentine's Day

We have never really celebrated St. Valentine's Day. We both agree (correct me if I'm wrong dear) that it is a commercialized holiday that doesn't really make much sense. Sure, my lady friend enjoys flowers and chocolate and nice cards but do I really need to be told when to give her such things? No! I love my wife because she's my wife not because some card company (the Man) told me to love her.

Please join with me in boycotting St. Valentine's Day. I am not asking you to stand in front of your local greeting card store with picket signs and buckets of red paint (I don't know what that means). I am asking you to love your wife, husband or significant other every day of the week, month and year. Don't let the Man tell you when to love! We've got to stand up to the Man and let him know who's boss!

Posted below are just a few of the reasons I love my wife. I keep a running list of reasons in a file on my computer. I add to the list when I think of reasons. The list is ever-growing and this is just a sample. Oddly enough the Man didn't set a date for me to write these reasons. I wrote them on my own because I love my wife.

Watch out St. Valentine, if that really is your name - you're going down!

HAPPY S.A.D. (Single Awareness Day). I join your boycott...red paint and all.

PssssT. (whispering) Is Kirsten reading? Go to the hallmark store tomorrow and buy all the cheap VD cards and then sporadically give them to her through out the year...that'll show the man and make her proud.

Just gonna be honest. I think this is a stupid idea, buddy.

We should love and honor and celebrate the coming of Christ and the power of his resurrection everyday. Does that mean we should boycott Christmas and Easter?

Also, there is a story of piety and martyrdom for the sake of marriage behind St. Valentine's Day. Isn't that worth celebrating, Vince?! Huh?! Huh?!

Your Valentine

i don't even know what the first part of your comment means. yes, i agree that we should celebrate the coming of Christ and the power of his resurrection. i don't know what that has to do with st. valentine's day and the pressure to do something special one day a year.

maybe you should post something about that on your blog. that would be really helpful. if you need help remembering how to log in and post to blogger let me know.

The point is that Christmas and Easter are two random holidays that someone just put on the calendar to have days where we celebrate the coming of Christ and the death and resurrection of Christ. That doesn't mean that those are the only days we should do those things, it's just they are special days set aside just for those things.

In the same way, Valentine's Day isn't meant to replace loving your spouse every day, but it just sets aside one day to celebrate romantic love in a special way.

Your brain's the one with the... shell on it.

i think a great venue for your blah blah blah would be your own blog. go to www.blogger.com and sign on. if you have forgotten your password contact the blogger team and they will send you an email with your password. it's simple.

and i suppose i did celebrate my wife on that day since i wrote a tribute to her on my blog. i'm going to head over to yours real quick like to see your tribute...oh, wait...nevermind bryan, if that is your real name.

This is a world wide problem. Why can't we all just get along?
