Southern Baptists on Alcohol

Justin Taylor at Between Two Worlds has an interesting post about the new SBC resolution on alcohol. Read the post here.

Just to grab your attention I will post a quote - "...when I go home at night and close my eyes and let eternity rise in my mind I see ten million more people in hell because of legalism than because of alcoholism." Now go read it in context!

Hmm, what say ye?

I went to the Southern Baptist Convention one of the years it was in Orlando. I went to Disney World the week before the convention, and I had a beer in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot. I guess I’m not a very good Southern Baptist.

unbelievable! i thought you were a Christian! I cannot believe you would stoop to such levels of sin and debauchery. I just cannot believe you went to Disney World - anathema!

I think I'm going to use this resolution as an excuse to leave the SBC. I don't even like beer very much, but I do like Jesus, and I tend to think that everything he did was okay, including knocking back a couple glasses of wine.
